bondage music label-founders pornbugs return to the imprint this september with their ‘pacho’ ep, backed with remixes from pablo bolivar and phillipp gonzales. leipzig/berlin based duo pornbugs make a welcome return to their own label here with two new original cuts, ‘pacho’ opens the package with stripped-back drums, a bulbous bass line and choppy piano chords running alongside a bubbling arpeggio lead and tension building stab sequences. pablo bolivar’s rawmake of pacho follows, edging things into deeper territory with dropped tempo dusty drums, airy pads and an amalgamation of wandering, resonant synth lines. the second half of the release, pencilled for release as vinyl only features another original from pornbugs, entitled ’larica’ and featuring a similar aesthetic to the lead with fluttering dubby chords, a refined drum groove and unfolding atmospherics carrying the groove before label regular phillipp gonzales turns in his remix to complete the package, taking things in a more raw direction with heavily swung crunchy drums, pulsating filtered stabs and billowing vocal murmurs.

widely acclaimed techno pioneer nicole moudaber has delivered the release of her adoption ep, a two-track production on nicoles own mood label which sees the dynamic producer tackle two tracks from one of the most important innovators of dance music since the 90s, moby. first up she offers a uniquely dark and twisted rework of like a motherless child, pitching down moby s vocals to create a deep demonic sound,verging into a range of immersive textures. on the flip side moudaber spins a heavy and grinding feel on her remix of mobys mere anarchy (taken from 2018 album everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt). moudaber packs the mix with haunting melodies, with the subtle use of orchestral sounds adding a hypnotic feel to the release.an event promoter, record label founder, radio host, and one of the most passionately followed dj/producers in the world,nicole moudaber is a one-woman army marching her muscular take on techno all over the globe.

preceding the release of his debut album, curses presents gold & silber, a five track ep led by a hypnotic, post-punk leaning roller, as well as four additional remixes from antoni maiovvi, chinaski and fango. for the title track, berlin based artist perel provides cathartic vocals on top of a drowsy rhythmic framework drawing influence from early ebm, synth music and new wave. fango provides a more angular, computerised take on the original, whilst antoni maiovvi raises the heat to a peak time flow. across two interpretations, chinaski provides maximal 80s synth work on the painkiller bonus vmix and trippy dancefloor energy on the tech noir remix.

as well as manning his own label duro, theus mago can be found slinging out heat on turbo, kill the dj and more recently ombra. the mexican producer returns to home turf for his latest transmission, serving up one original track with two killer remixes. -inertials- is a rowdy beast in its original form, tapping up a breakbeat roll, dirty wave synth stabs and plenty more sonic debris for a cut that spans a whole lot of styles and makes them gel together seamlessly. inigo vontier takes the original and makes it into a bone-rattling drum track to batter the crowd into submission very late on in the dance. jamie paton takes a different approach on the b-side, weaving a little tenderness into the mix with some elegant synth lines that offset the raw bite of the drums beautifully.

p.e.a.r.l. is launching the fifteenth installment of his falling ethics series with two versions of a serious club destroyer that has been released on the label back in the early days of falling ethics. sorrows has been reflipped to a 2018 version that is sounding modern, large and in sync with the current aesthetics in techno music. while this version can be located on the b-side, on the a-side we find a larger than life cub version (karl o conner & simon shreeve) that will definitely turn some heads over the next few months. reworking classics is not always needed but in this case, it’s a welcome addition completely in harmony with the times.

the man, the myth, the legend, back in the 80s jesse rae, along with roger troutman and bernie worrell, was part of the p-funk movement that was hugely influential to detroit’s early electronic experiments. lesser known is that the enigmatic scot-funk warrior later produced underground electronic tracks in the 90s. the inaugural release on glasgow label southside shufflers presents two of jesses shufflers on vinyl for the first time on the global 95 ep- a sampler from his pioneering 1995 album compression. ever the innovator, jesse recorded the album collaboratively using live isdn technology spanning three continents, with the resultant tracks fusing african, us electro-funk and old scots influences. 23 years later, jesse’s under the radar shufflers sound more relevant than ever. southside shufflers are a record label and sports collective based in glasgow with outposts in london and amsterdam. sss aint no half steppin!

deep, rootical lovers, darkly seething with one-step-at-a-time hurt and steely, vengeful self-esteem. hypnotic, stripped and desolate, with implacable drums and bass, dubwise from the start, the production is classic, unmistakable wackies, featuring fabian cooke’s scattered, abrupt organ stabs and minimal guitar-work, ras menelik’s masterful nyabinghi drumming, and harmonic commiseration by sugar minott and the love joys (with a strangled sob at intervals). over six minutes, the extended mix is different to the love power lp, and the additional dub, released here for the first time, is unmissable for its extra rawness and dubbed-out emptiness. plus thirteen minutes of blissed-out disco reggae on the flip: two contrasting dubs of the giorgio moroder/irene cara/flashdance cut from love power, both previously unreleased and a bit sick.

japanese newcomer -jtt- unveils their debut vinyl on their own label yu-zen-. jtt consists of two guys, takayuki hosoda and dj java. most of their tracks are deep and micro house and nudisco music. -tone river- is one of the typical masterpieces of their tracks. it has a tense and dreamy atmosphere. it s a very simple but enough to be addicted one. -lotus root- has a mystical atmosphere. your brain can feel good unique sound effect sense. you will be into it. mastering by kuniyuki takahashi. according to his careful work these tracks have a high level of completeness.

after making a promising start with their first installment, disco pocho return with a second round of expertly selected, sliced and segued groovers from the parties of yesteryear. javi frias is the cat on the buttons this time around, taking two loose and limber disco funk burners and giving them just the right subtle touch to set the place alight. its a shame has an easy tempo, but there s more than enough heat embedded in the looped up slices frias gets busy with it s a dense, rugged and rock-tinged sound that should please brass construction fans. on the flip, you got what i need turns things up with a powerful, diva-led gem that s heavy on the one, just like it should be.

emad dabiri, born in iran, began operating under his alias sarin six years ago with ebm, techno, and audiovisual experiments in toronto before moving to berlin in 2014. kuleshov effect marks his fifth release and displays an evolution forward in his productions that are exemplified by cutup sample techniques, mechanical basslines, and piercing drum sequences seamlessly blurring the fine line between puristic techno and bona fide electronic body music. the ep title refers to a cinematic technique developed in 1920s russia in which two images with different inherent meanings are played in sequence creating a third definition by the juxtaposition. from this concept is where the audiovisual montage and sampling approach of sarin is developed. with regular and infamous performances in the berlin club circuit as well as the rest of europe, dabiri expertly implies how his precise methods of production articulate themselves into the techno framework with music that is pure and mechanical yet incessantly funky and addictive. obsessively sampling from films of espionage, tension, conflict, and war, sarin fuses this imagery with his meticulously curated compositions to force through a new sound.
